Trusting God Through Setbacks | Haly Inspiration

This prophetic word is for the coming season. The Lord is showing me that many of us are on the path to something extraordinary, yet we are experiencing the resistance of challenging circumstances pulling us back.

When it feels like our dreams are within reach, only to be met with setbacks, it’s natural to question why things aren’t going as planned. Sometimes, we may feel like the psalmist who asked, “Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1, NIV). WHY? WHY? When we encounter tough situations, it’s natural to wonder why God seems far away. We long for His help and presence, seeking answers to our questions.

Despite our questioning and longing for God’s answers, we can take comfort in knowing that even the greatest heroes of faith faced setbacks on their own journeys.

Let’s take the story of Moses, for example. God chose him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. But along the way, Moses had to deal with lots of problems. From Pharaoh’s hardened heart to the grumbling of the Israelites in the wilderness, Moses had to endure setbacks that tested his faith. Yet, in those challenging times, God was molding Moses into a humble and faithful leader.

Sometimes, it can be discouraging when things don’t go as we hoped. But here’s an important truth: God has a plan for each one of us, and His plans are GOOD!

In the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV).

This means that God wants the BEST for us and has great things in store for our lives.

1. The Ups and Downs of Our Journey

‣ Life’s Journey: Peaks and Valleys

Life is like a journey, with peaks and valleys along the way, constantly testing our resilience and faith. Just when we feel like we’re on top of the world, something unexpected happens, and we find ourselves hurtling downward. It can be discouraging when it feels like our progress is suddenly halted. But take heart – God’s plan is still unfolding!

You see, our Heavenly Father is not confined by the limitations of time and circumstances. He sees the bigger picture. While we may only see the setbacks, God, with His infinite wisdom, sees the fullness of our journey and the glorious destination He has lovingly prepared for us. Remember – God’s timing is always perfect!

When circumstances take a turn for the worse, it’s easy to lose hope and question God’s plan. We may wonder why things aren’t going as planned, why doors seem to close before us. But remember, my friend, that God’s perspective surpasses our finite understanding. He is not limited by what we see as setbacks.

‣ God’s Perspective and Faithfulness in Setbacks

Rather than allowing setbacks to discourage us, God uses them as stepping stones to move us forward. As we journey, we can take comfort in the words of Psalm 37:23-24, which assures us that the Lord establishes the steps of those who delight in Him. Even if we stumble, we will not fall, for God upholds us with His loving hand. With this assurance, we can press on, knowing that God’s faithfulness will guide us every step of the way.

The setbacks we encounter are not roadblocks but opportunities for growth, transformation, and deeper reliance on God. Even when circumstances seem unfavorable, we can trust that God is arranging every detail for our good.

In those moments when it feels like we’re taking two steps back, let us hold onto the hope and assurance found in God’s Word, reminding ourselves that His plans for us are plans of prosperity, not harm.

2. The Power of Trusting God

When things don’t go as planned and setbacks come our way, it’s crucial to trust in God’s faithfulness. Just like a loving parent guides their child through challenges, God guides us on our journey too. He sees the big picture—the whole picture of our lives—so He knows what’s best for us, even when we can’t understand it right now. Therefore, it is essential for us to TRUST in the LORD with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. 🙏 In all our ways, let us submit to Him, knowing that as we do, He will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). 🛤️

Trusting God means having faith and believing that He has a purpose for everything that happens, including setbacks. Even though setbacks can be tough to bear, they can also be opportunities for us to learn, grow, and become stronger.

And you know what’s amazing? God never wastes a setback. He can use even the difficult times to shape us into the person He wants us to be and bring us closer to His plan for our lives. Sometimes we might not see it right away, but as we trust Him and keep moving forward, He will reveal His purpose to us in His perfect timing.

Let’s have faith that He’s with us, guiding us through every challenge and setback. We can rely on Him to turn our setbacks into stepping stones on the path to His amazing plan for our lives.

3. Overcoming Disagreements and Opposition

Also, sometimes setbacks occur because of disagreements with others. It can be disheartening when someone doesn’t agree with us or opposes our plans. In such situations, we should seek wisdom and guidance from God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding but acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our paths. Let’s remember to approach conflicts with grace, humility, and a desire for reconciliation, trusting that God can bring unity even in the midst of disagreements.

When you find yourself in these situations, it’s important to approach them with grace and humility. Instead of getting angry or trying to prove yourselves right, seek God’s wisdom and guidance. He can help you see the bigger picture and understand different perspectives. He can give you the right words to communicate with love and respect.

Finding understanding, forgiveness, and common ground might not happen right away. But with God’s loving presence in your life, you can learn to understand others better, extend forgiveness when it’s difficult, and work towards finding common ground and unity. It may take time and effort, but with God by your side, you can make progress and foster harmony in your relationships.

Closing Message

Remember the foundational scripture we discussed from Jeremiah 29:11, where God declares His plans to prosper us and give us hope and a future.

As we go through the twists and turns of our journey, let us also draw inspiration from the words of Joel Osteen:

Every setback is a setup for a comeback – Joel Osteen

These insightful words remind us that even in the face of setbacks, God is orchestrating our comeback, using every challenge as an opportunity for blessings and testimony of His faithfulness.

I invite you to share your thoughts, experiences, and prayers in the comments below. Let’s encourage and support one another as we continue to trust in God’s amazing plan for our lives.
