The word of God says, let everything that has breath praise God. We do not need to look for things that we might praise God for. We can always thank God for His marvelous kindness, His faithfulness, His love, His miracles of mercy, for filling our lives with all that is good. (Psalm 107:8-9 NIV)
God deserves all our praise because He is much greater than anyone can understand. But you may be wondering what the benefits of praising God are? Is praising God really important, or is it some Christian cliché?
“Even if God never did another good thing in our lives, we could spend the rest of this life praising Him for what He has already done.”
Well, the answer to this question is found in Psalm 22:3. It says that God inhabits the praise of His people. Meaning that God looks at His children with favor and lavishes them with favor when they praise Him. When God’s love and favor are upon you, you get to enjoy certain benefits.
Today, we’re going to look at the eleven benefits of praising God. Let’s get into it:
Benefits of Praising God
1. Your Strength will be Renewed
Life is hard, and the Christian life is more challenging. At times we are left vulnerable by the issues of life. This vulnerability causes us to make mistakes. But when we praise God, He renews us in our inner being.
The truth is we cannot manage this life in our own strength. We need divine help and intervention. When you find yourself stressed, turn to God, and praise Him. It will not be easy, but when you do that, the Lord will renew your strength, and His favor will enable you to conquer the giants in your life. (Psalms 103:1-5)
2. Invites God’s Presence in our Lives
You want to be close to God and follow His leading in everything you do. But you don’t know how to do it. You have tried so many things like fasting, reading your Bible for long hours, and praying, but it seems like nothing is working.
Well, tried praising God? I don’t mean singing two songs before prayer and reciting a few verses about praise. What I mean is taking time to praise God for who He is – for His love, faithfulness, and mercies.
When we praise the Lord, we are magnifying Him and putting every other thing below Him. When we praise, we shift our attention from ourselves, other people, and all that is happening around us, in our lives to God. And when our focus is on God, we end up reaping one of the most tremendous benefits of praising God, and that is God’s presence.
3. Brings Victory
There is a lot of teaching out there about spiritual warfare. Some of them are good, but some are not, and we need to be careful about what we feed our souls with. You may be struggling with some things in life, and you are looking for a way to come out of that season. Maybe you‘ve been spending your days and nights crying to God to rescue you from the wilderness season, but it seems like God is not listening to you.
It is not that God is not listening to you; it could be that He’s waiting for you to stop focusing on the situation you’re in and start focusing on Him. Through praise, we surrender our battles to God and allow Him to fight on our behalf. The enemy will defeat you as long as you focus on your emotions and the battle.
Be like King Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:1-30). Stop focusing on the battle and focus on God through praise. Yes, it is difficult to focus on God and praise Him when the battle is fierce.
But remember that our enemy loves to play with our emotions. As long as we are led by our feelings, he will defeat us. Our adversary knows how to toy with them because he has been doing this for a long time and understands our weaknesses.
Jehoshaphat knew he would not win the battle with his clever ideas. He and his people praised God in the midst of a threatening situation. Their focus was shifted from their enemies’ threats to God Who was able to deliver them. Praise brings Victory!
4. Satisfies our Souls
Do you feel empty in your heart? Are the pleasures of life no longer satisfying you? The more fun you try to have, the more you feel empty.
Well, the things of this world are temporary; they, therefore, bring temporary pleasure. We were created to have a relationship with God and to enjoy intimacy with Him. But that cannot be attained by engaging in religious acts and what the world calls “fun.” True fulfillment is achieved when we praise and worship God.
So how about you stop looking for fulfillment in your job, business, family, friends, entertainment, and the things of this world? Spend time praising and worshiping God for His faithfulness and goodness. It may not make sense at first, but as you continue to do that, God will fill your heart with love, the peace that surpasses all understanding, and joy.
5. Repels Depression
How would your life be if you depended on yourself or other people for peace? It would be depressing, right?
The world wants us to believe that they are having fun, and we are the ones that are living depressed lives. But that is not true. Life without God is depressing.
When we focus on God and spend time in His presence every day, praising and loving Him, we repel depression and attract peace and joy in our hearts. If you’re struggling with depression, fear, and anxiety, start praising God. He will take away your worries, doubts, and stress and fill you with inner peace. (Isaiah 61:3)
6. Brings Freedom
Are you living in bondage? Are generational curses blocking you from living life more abundantly?
We have been set free from bondage and curses by Jesus Christ (Galatians 5:1). But just because Jesus died and set us free from bondage doesn’t mean that we will have an easy ride. We are in a spiritual battle. We need to stand firm and walk in the freedom that Jesus Christ died so that we could have.
Paul and Silas were prisoned for preaching the gospel. Even though they had been beaten thoroughly, they did not stop praising God. As they were praising God at the midnight hour, prison doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were removed. (Acts 16:16-40)
When we praise God, He frees us from every chain holding us back and every bondage that we are in. Not just that but other people in our families, church, and the world over will be freed from their bondage. Notice how the chains of other prisoners were also removed (Acts 16:25).
Do not complain about your situation; instead, turn to God. And praise Him for setting you free. When we praise the Lord, He arises, and our enemies scatter.
7. Fulfills God’s Purpose for Creating Us
At times we may find ourselves questioning our entire existence. The times when people, including our own family, reject us. Those seasons when the works of our hands fail, and we don’t like how we look or do certain things.
We may find ourselves believing that we are here by mistake, no one loves us, and it is better if God takes us away. But we need to remember that we are here for a higher purpose. So it doesn’t matter if people reject us or if that project fails. There is something bigger than God expects us to do.
What is that? Praising God!!!
When we praise God, we are fulfilling the purpose He created us for. But wait, aren’t we here to serve God? Yes, of course, we are here to do that, and serving God starts with enjoying His presence and praising Him. When we spend time praising God, we will feel more fulfilled in life.
8. Boosts our Confidence
Let us be honest. We have all struggled with confidence at some point. But do you know that lack of confidence blocks us from being the people God wants us to be? It causes us to second-guess ourselves. Now, when you keep second-guessing yourself, you end up sabotaging your own success and forfeiting God’s purposes in your life.
The truth is we struggle with self-esteem because we focus on ourselves, that is, our weaknesses and failures. But that is not what God wants us to do. He knows that we are fallen beings who cannot do great things in and of ourselves. We need God for us to advance the kingdom.
When we focus on Jesus and what He has done on the Cross, our confidence is boosted, and we end up loving ourselves even though we have flaws and weaknesses. If you struggle with confidence, stop looking at yourself, and start looking at Jesus. Praise God for loving you despite all your failures. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and the forgiveness of sin. As you do this, you’ll start looking at yourself from the lens of grace and not your flaws. This, in turn, will boost your confidence.
9. Releases Us from the Weight of Sin
We know that our sins have been forgiven, right? But much as we Christian know that we struggle with sin.
As a result, some, if not most, of us struggle with condemnation from time to time. The enemy always reminds us of our faults, especially when we mess up so that we can continue to live in a cycle of defeat. If you find yourself struggling with condemnation, stop brushing off those thoughts, and start praising God.
The Psalmist in Psalms 103:1-5 encourages his soul to praise God and not forget all His benefits. One of the benefits that he mentions is forgiveness of sin. Praise God for rescuing you from the pit of hell through His Son Jesus. Praise Him for forgiving you your past, present, and future sins. When you do this, you will be reminded of God’s great sacrifice, which will cause you to be released from the weight of sin.
10. Increases our Faith in God
Struggling to believe the promises of God? Do you find yourself doubting all the great things God says about you in His word? You’re not alone. We all struggle with our faith, sometimes we are on fire for Him and believe everything He says, but sometimes it is hard to trust even in the simplest things God tells us.
Praising God will increase your faith in such times. See, as we spend time praising God, we can recount the great things He has done in our lives, other people’s lives, and even the great things the Lord did in the Bible. When we do this, our souls are reminded of God’s goodness, which builds our faith.
Do not feel guilty because you are struggling with your faith. Instead, recall the great things God did in the past and start recounting them to Him. As you do this, your faith will be built, and you will continue standing firm.
11. Helps us to Focus on Eternity
There’s more to the life we are living than what we see in the physical. That is why we are not supposed to focus on earthly things. The word of God tells us to focus on the things above. But honestly, it is easy to get distracted by worldly things. See, the things of this world seem attractive and pleasurable. They make us look great in the sight of men.
It is such a struggle to have our mind stayed on God and His kingdom, but it is possible. So how do we ensure that our minds have stayed on heavenly things? By praising God. When we praise God, we shift our focus from our surroundings and ourselves to God. When we start our day with praise and end with it, we shift our focus from the natural to the supernatural realm, which enables us to remain on the right track.
Doth not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I should be an exception to the universe. Doth not the thunder praise Him as it rolls like drums in the march of the God of armies? Do not the mountains praise Him when the woods upon their summits wave in adoration? Doth not the lightning write His name in letters of fire? Hath not the whole earth a voice? And shall I, can I, silent be?
– Charles Spurgeon
My Final Thoughts on Benefits of Praise God
We won’t be naturally drawn to praising God because of our fallen nature.
That’s why it is essential for us to know the benefits of praising God.
When the issues of life take center stage in our lives, our relationship with God suffers. If this is true for you, know that you don’t have to live that way anymore.
God loves and cares for you. He wants to spend time with you not because He cannot do without you but because you are His most prized possession. He loves you and He likes you!
Today choose to make praise part of your everyday life. Doing this will cause you to have life more abundantly.
Hope this Word has encouraged you to praise God in any circumstance because He is worthy of our praise. Please let me know how praise has changed your life.
Blessings,
Haly

Very good full of wisdom in simple English language you can simply understand life changing I think I was led specifically for this information you have explained and taught me my life is changed and my life will never be the same this this wisdom you’ve given me great wisdom the motivating as well wisdom I needed to understand what praising God is this wisdom which I have received is greats better than silver money and God because I now have it for eternity this wisdom this is what true richness is rich with this wisdom i have known rich with this wisdom for all eternity. Romans
1.28 talks about the same thing Romans1.28 says since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, So God gave them over to a reprobate, debased mind to do things which ought not to be done so they fell,
and did all kinds of sins which ought not to be done and there was no return and even worshipped gods made by thier own hands instead of Worshipping the real and true living God .The reason they were lost forever is, they did not see it fit to acknowledge God as their creator as a foundation which is the first Great Commandment given Matthew22:36-37 Teacher, which is the greatest Commandment in the law, Jesus replied. Love the lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.Because they didn’t see it fit to Love God first as their creator by praising Him as their creator and instead of worshipping and loving God their creator with all their heart soul and mind the first Commandment they loved and worshipped their archivements more than God even though those archivements came from God so they loved thier archivements the created things more, rather than loving the God who created those archivements the God who is the source for thier archivements. Loving and worshipping God with all your heart soul and mind more than anything else created is the first and greatest foundation law in heaven and in earth Psalms show us that’s this is the first law and greatest law in heaven on psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. This is the first and greatest Commandment to love and praise God the Creator with all your heart soul and mind rather than loving what He created which is the creature more than Him God the source of everything who was not created.
