God is Doing Something Brand New

God is doing something brand new in your life. Do you perceive it?

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen. – Isaiah 43:19-20(NIV)

We need to cooperate with God as He takes us through new seasons in life. If you hold on to the past, you will block the new thing God has for you from manifesting in your life. On the other hand, if you make an idol out of a brand new thing, you will make mistakes that will block you from having God’s best.

There needs to be a balance. You need to be alert in the spirit to perceive what God is doing. And to know what to do in this new season.

But how do you know God is doing something brand new, and what do you do as you wait?

7 Signs God is Doing Something Brand New in Your Life

1. Old Doors Closing and Things not Working Out

There are times life is so good. Things work in our favor, we prosper in health, and our relationships thrive.

But there are also seasons when all odds work against us. We start experiencing setbacks in our jobs, businesses, and ministries. Some doors start shutting in our faces, and we are left feeling helpless.

It is easy to blame the enemy. In fact, our default thought as Christians is to bind and cast the devil and his demons. But have you considered the fact that it is God who is allowing all these things to happen? It is good to ask God why things are not working out first before taking any action.

Sometimes God allows doors to close because He wants to open new doors in your life.

2. Going Through a Wilderness Season

After getting baptized, Jesus was driven to the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. Notice that it is the Holy Spirit who drove him to the wilderness (Mark 1:12). At times, God will drive us to the wilderness before the brand new thing manifests in our lives.

The wilderness is a place of preparation for what lies ahead. You need to go through preparation and testing to qualify for what God has in store for you.

If you are going through a difficult time, facing rejection, attacks on your finances, or particular areas in your life, chances are you are being tested and prepared for the brand new thing God is doing.

Instead of complaining and feeling disappointed because of all the challenges, you’re going through, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. He will strengthen and guide you through this process.

3. Unexpected Opportunities Keep Popping in your Life

Are new opportunities suddenly popping into your life?

Maybe there are things you asked God years back, but the answers did not manifest within a particular time frame, so you gave up. Or it could be that you’re experiencing sudden promotions and opportunities that you were not expecting.

Honestly, not all opportunities come from God, so we need to be very careful and not assume that God is doing a brand new thing in our lives.

One of the signs that God is doing a brand new thing is unexpected opportunities. You may meet your kingdom spouse when you least expect it. You may get a promotion though you don’t qualify for it according to man’s standards. Your prodigal child or spouse may come back home when you are just about to give up. Healing may suddenly manifest in your body.

God loves to surprise His children. God may reveal what He is about to do in your life, but the way He will bring that thing forth will surprise you. God will open up doors in the wilderness for you. (Isaiah 43: 19)

4. Recurring Themes in your Life

Have you noticed recurring themes in your life recently?

Maybe you keep saying certain words.

Or when you listen to preaching, they have the same theme even though the messages are from different preachers. The songs you may be listening to at this time may have the same message. Some people see particular numbers in their dreams or will have the same dream a couple of times.

In 2022, I was seeing 11:11 all the time, and I felt I needed to take some actions for God’s blessings to be released into my life. Previously to that I saw numbers 444. Maybe you too?

Do not be quick to brush off those things or think that they’re just coincidences. God may be trying to get your attention because He’s about to do something brand new in your life, and He needs your full cooperation.

As you listen to these sermons, note down things that keep recurring in those messages, then ask God what they mean. And what He wants you to do in this season.

5. You are Going Through a Season of Healing and Repentance

Some things look simple, but they are barriers to us experiencing God’s best.

Unforgiveness, bitterness, and fear will block you from experiencing the best things that God has for you. It is the reason why God takes us through a season of healing and repentance when He is doing something brand new in our life.

The process may be challenging, uncomfortable, and painful for some people, but you need to be willing to go through it all. Forgive those that have hurt you, allow God to remove bitterness from your heart, and heal your broken heart (Psalms 147:3).

6. A Burden for something in your Heart

Is there a burden in your heart that makes you wake up at night to seek the face of God? Do you find yourself thinking about a particular thing over and over? Is something giving you sleepless nights?

When God is about to do something new in our lives, He puts a burden on our hearts. We may develop an interest in things that we never used to care about in the past. God allows this to happen to draw our attention to the brand-new thing that He is doing.

Be patient during this time and trust God even though you don’t understand what He’s doing.

Do not look at what is happening as a weird or strange occurrence. Be alert in the Spirit, so that you don’t miss out on what your heavenly Father is doing or about to do.

7. Connection with People Going through Similar Experiences

At times, God will cut off some relationships in your life and connect you with people who are either going through the same experiences you are going through; or He will connect you to people who are already on the other side of what you are about to go through.

These people will always encourage and pray for you. They will also counsel and share their experiences so that you can know what awaits you in your new season.

What do you do when God is Doing Something Brand New in your life?

• Write the Vision Down

When God is about to do something new in your life, He usually reveals it to you.

For example, when He was about to make Abraham a father of many nations, God revealed His plans to him (Genesis 17:5). God also revealed His redemption plans to the world through prophets and His other servants.

My suggestion would be to write down what God is telling you, or what He has put into your heart.

Writing the vision down helps us remain on course, especially when we fight doubt. When God reveals a new thing He is doing in our life, He always does it at the very beginning before the brand new thing manifests fully in our lives.

In most cases, the brand-new thing will take time to manifest. This means there will be moments when you will struggle with doubt. There will also be times when you will struggle to remain on course.

• Trust and Obey

God never gives us a complete picture of the new things that He is doing in our lives. He will only tell you part of it so that you can walk by faith.

God also tells us only portions of what He is about to do for us, not to be scared by what awaits us or be filled with pride.

Your part is to trust and obey God.

Yes, some things will not make sense to you. It will be hard to do some things that God will tell you to do, but you need to trust and obey. Remember, you need not choose God. He chose YOU to bear fruit.

One of the reasons why believers are referred to as sheep is because sheep follow their shepherd blindly. They do not question his leadership. They know that their shepherd will take care of their needs. Since we belong to Christ, we need to follow Jesus without doubt or question. He is our good shepherd. We need to hear and follow His voice.

• Spend Time in the Word of God

The Psalmist says the word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path (Psalms 119:105). We need to study the word to know what God says and where He wants us to go.

Okay, this doesn’t mean that you have to read the whole Bible, but you need to spend more time meditating on the things God is revealing to you through the word and visualizing them until they become your reality.

The more you do this, the easier it becomes for you to hear His voice. When you follow the lead of the Holy Spirit, it becomes easier for you to fight doubt and uncertainty.

There are many articles on how to spend time with God, but it all comes from within. You will be lead.

• Be Patient

As we have already seen, just because God has revealed to you what He is doing in your life does not mean that it will happen immediately.

Even though the children of Israel were being led to the promised land, they had to go through a process. A process that required them to be patient with God. Unfortunately, they were not patient. They complained, made an idol, and walked in disobedience.

Their impatience made them spend more time in the wilderness than they should have. It made the generation that left Egypt die except for Caleb and Joshua.

Be patient and do things God’s way because his timing and ours differ. As much as God may be doing something new, it doesn’t mean that it will manifest immediately.

It is hard to wait, but you need to hold on to God and know that He is a faithful God. Your heavenly Father will do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond what you think or imagine.

Let Go of Whatever God is Cutting off from Your Life

God may ask you to cut off some friendships and relationships for you to walk into the new thing that He’s doing for you. He may require you to leave that job to take up a new position in another place.

We may find it challenging to do what He’s telling us because we love being comfortable. Like the children of Israel, we may want to hold on to what we are used to instead of moving forward with what God wants us to do.

But when we choose to hold on to what God wants us to leave behind, we may walk through the wrong doors and experience tough times. So it is important that you let go of what God is telling you, however difficult it is.

• Pray and Prepare

Has God told you to prepare for what He’s about to do in your life? Are you doing that, or are you still wondering whether it is good or not?

This article may be God’s way of confirming that He is doing a new thing in your life, and you need to start preparing for what lies ahead immediately.

The best way to prepare is to seek God’s face continually so that He can show you what lies ahead and what to do in this given situation. The more you spend time in God’s presence, the easier it will be for you to understand what God wants to do or is doing and what He expects from you.

God will also reveal the direction you need to take from today onwards so that His purposes can be accomplished in your life.

Pray and prepare for what lies ahead so that you are not caught off guard when things start happening in your life. (Mark 13:33)

• Praise and Worship

Walking into your new season is not going to be easy. The enemy will try his best to distract you. There will also be times when you will struggle with doubt, especially if the new season takes longer to manifest than you thought.

Praise and worship are powerful weapons that you can use to combat doubt, fear, and anxiety. Worship God even when you don’t feel like it. Sing praises to Him when it is the last thing that you want to do. Doing this will bring results faster and cause the enemy to flee from you. (2 Chronicles 20)

For many of us, God is doing something brand new this season.

But for us to perceive what He is doing, we need to spend time in prayer and the word. It is through prayer and the word God reveals His purposes to us.

Start preparing for what lies ahead. Cut off anything that is not in alignment with God or that He may be asking you to cut off. Be patient during this time and trust God even though you don’t understand what He’s doing.

God has great plans for your life, but you need to cooperate with Him for these plans to manifest.

Relax and Enjoy your New Journey!
