This Prophetic Word for October 2026 is for anyone standing at their own shoreline of transition, sensing that Jesus is calling them to leave what is familiar and follow Him into a new chapter.
As I have been praying about this Prophetic Word for October 2026, I keep coming back to one particular morning in Scripture. Simon and Andrew are on the shore with their nets in their hands, doing what they have done a thousand mornings before. James and John are in the boat with their father, mending nets. It is an ordinary day. Nothing about the morning tells them their lives are about to change.
They are simply working. Minding their own business. Doing what they know.
And then Jesus walks by.
When Jesus Interrupts Your Ordinary
He doesn’t ask them to finish the shift. He doesn’t wait for a more convenient moment. He simply says, “Follow Me.” Matthew tells us something remarkable: they immediately left their nets and followed Him. No committee meeting. No five year plan. They left the boat, the nets and the family business, everything that had defined them until that moment, and they walked into a story they could not yet see the ending of.
(For a fascinating look at the boats and nets fishermen actually used in Jesus’ day, you can read about the discovery of The Jesus Boat.)
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
The nets were not the problem. Jesus was simply calling them beyond the nets.
I believe that is exactly where some of you are as you come into October.
Perhaps You Are Standing at Your Own Shoreline
Maybe your life looks quite ordinary on the outside. You are working, raising your family, building something, serving faithfully, going about the routine that has become yours. There is nothing wrong with that. It has been good to you. It has provided for you. It has become familiar.
But something has been stirring underneath it.
Perhaps you have begun to sense that a season is changing, even if you cannot fully explain it yet. There is a restlessness you did not have before. Things you used to be completely settled in no longer feel quite the same. And perhaps you have been asking God what is happening.
I want to suggest that you are not simply experiencing uncertainty. I believe you are standing at your shoreline, and Jesus is walking toward you.
The Nets Were Not the Problem
I want to say this clearly, because when we talk about leaving something behind, it is easy to assume that whatever we are leaving must have been wrong.
It wasn’t.
The nets were not wrong. The boat was not wrong. Fishing was not a mistake. It had been their livelihood, their provision, their identity for years. The issue was never that the boat was bad. The issue was that Jesus was calling them beyond it.
Some of what you are carrying right now was right for the last season. It taught you something. It provided for you. It shaped you into who you are today. But something can be good, and still not be what God is calling you into next.
I Know What It Feels Like to Leave the Familiar
I do not say any of this from a distance.
Earlier this year I faced sudden redundancy. I wrote about it and shared it in a video at the time, because I needed to process it honestly, not just as something that happened to me, but as something God was doing in me. And as I write this word to you now, I am still in that job. I am finishing at the end of this very month, October.
So this is not a story I am telling you from the other side of it, looking back with everything neatly resolved. I am standing on the shoreline right now, nets still in my hands, watching the date approach when I will have to put them down.
It is not neat. It is not settled on the inside just because I know the day is coming. I have questions. I have a knot in my chest some days. I catch myself thinking, but this is what I know how to do. This is what I’m used to.
And in the middle of it, the Lord keeps bringing me back to one verse.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:19
So when I share this word with you, it is not from a place of having already arrived. It is from someone walking the same shoreline right alongside you this very month, learning in real time what it means to leave the boat and follow Christ into what He has next, one step at a time, without the whole map.
What Are You Afraid to Leave Behind?
Maybe you are carrying questions you haven’t fully put into words yet.
What if I let go and nothing comes next?
What if I’m not ready?
I’ve built an identity around this. Who am I without it?
What if this “follow Me” is just fear talking, or wishful thinking?
Peter didn’t have those answers standing on the shore either. He got them by walking. The clarity you are looking for is not going to arrive before the obedience. It arrives because of it. You do not need the whole map. You need the next step.
Clarity was never meant to come before the obedience. It comes because of it.
Your Previous Season Was Not Wasted
If you are being asked to leave something behind right now, please do not look back and believe those years were wasted. They weren’t.
The boat carried you for a season. The nets served a purpose. The job, the routine, the relationship, the role, whatever it is, it was part of your story and part of your preparation. Even the difficult parts were not wasted. You are not starting from nothing. You are stepping forward with everything God has already taught you.
This is not a word about loss. It is a word about exchange. Every disciple who left a boat was handed something the boat could never have given them: nearness to Jesus and a story far bigger than fishing.

A Prophetic Word for October 2026
I believe October 2026 is a threshold month. Not a slow drift, but a distinct moment where you will sense Him walking by your everyday life and calling your name. Not to punish you by taking things away, but to invite you into something your current nets were never big enough to hold.
You are not being asked to walk away from everything alone or unprepared. The same voice that says “follow Me” is the voice that will walk with you into the New. He did not call the disciples to abandon them in the unknown. He called them into relationship with Him first, and the mission followed.
So if your hands are trembling a little as you consider letting go of what’s familiar, that is not disqualifying. Peter’s hands probably trembled too. Obedience does not require the absence of fear. It requires one step, taken anyway.
Lord, give us the courage to step beyond what is familiar and follow Your voice today.
A Declaration for This Season
Speak this over yourself today:
What I am leaving behind is not being wasted. It prepared me.
The transition I feel is not confusion. It is calling.
I will not walk into the New alone.
The hesitation I feel is human, but the “immediately” of the disciples is available to me too, one step at a time.
I am not losing my past. I am trusting Jesus with my future.
He is doing a new thing in me and I perceive it. I receive it. I declare it.
In Jesus’ name.
Did this word speak to something specific in your life today? What are you leaving behind as you step into this new season? I would love to hear from you.
With love and faith for your next season,
Haly
